If my firmware is already updated to 4.2u, will the 4.2 update inside of my retail new super mario bros brick my wii. The reason why im asking is because i have the home brew channel. will it update automatically or will it prompt me?

I have heard of the troublesome Wii Update to 4.2 And I want to hold it off as of now.
I know the update that came with GH5 did not update my system.
So is the update that comes with new super mario bros. wii the update to 4.2?
