In New Super Mario Bros Wii How Do You Pick Up Toad When Using The Nunchuck When Rescuing Him.?

Or can you only do it when holding the wii remote horizontally. Also if I beat the level where Yoshi appears w/o losing him, can I use him in the toad rescue missions?

First you don’t use the Nun Chuck to play this game, you hold the wiimote horizontally. To pick up toad you hold the 1 button down stand next to toad and shake the wiimote. Keep the 1 button pressed otherwise you will release toad.
